Summary of Application
We recommend using the following rates of application:
- Row Crops: 2-10 ton/acre depending on soil type. This
is a one time application if you till less than 6". If Tillage
exceeds 6" 1 or 2 additional applications will be necessary to
keep the Z-Olite in the root
growth zone. This will be all the application necessary since
the Z-Olite is a rock and doesn't
wear down with time.
For large areas: 1 ton/acre is approx. 5 lb./100 sq. ft.
We recommend using at least 1.125 tons per acre to get the minimum coverage.
Preferred Rates of Application of Z-Olite
to turf grasses:
- Mix 70-150 lb Z-Olite
per 1000 sq. ft. of topsoil. Tilling to 1-4 gives the turf's roots
a chance to have the most accessibility to the
Z-Olite particles.
- Spread 70-150 lb Z-Olite
per 1000 sq. ft. on ground before sod arrives. This puts
Z-Olite right in the root growth
zone.
- Apply 50 -100 lb of Z-Olite
per 1000 sq. ft. on the surface of the sod/grass as a
top-dressing. Top-dressing is effective, and eventually the
Z-Olite will be incorporated
into the soil. This is still a one-time application.
Recommendations for Golf Greens/Tees:
- Add 10-20% Z-Olite
to sand, by volume, being prepared for greens/tees. This increases
the water permeability significantly. It also increases the porosity
in both the capillary (water-filled) and non-capillary (air-filled)
porosities. Water retention is increased, bulk density is decreased
and surface properties are unchanged.
- Seeded grass germinates and establishes faster.
Health of the turf and roots is visually evident. Fluctuations in
color and leaf textures are much less with
Z-Olite. Speed of establishment, and long term
performance improvements will save time, money, and water.
Recommendations for Flower Beds, Trees, and Bushes:
- Mix 10-20% Z-Olite, by volume, to
soil and till 1-6".
- Spread evenly around tree bases under bark after planting.
NOTE: Water immediately after application of zeolite to living plants/roots. This puts the plants and Z-Olite,
in equilibrium. After the first watering the zeolite will work in harmony with
the soil. Not watering after applying to living plants can cause the
Z-Olite to pull moisture out of the plant's
soil, thus stressing the plant.
Methods of Application of Z-Olite:
- For PTO or powered spreaders:
- -8+14 Z-Olite spreads
the most evenly.
- -14+40 works also.
- -14+40 and -8+14 Z-Olite work equally well with hand spreaders.
- Mix with a shovel or skidsteer loader to achieve volume
ratios.
